The Reason Dave Dahl Of Dave's Killer Bread Went To Jail

Going through the supermarket aisles, you may have noticed Dave's Killer Bread and wondered how it got its name. Founder Dave Dahl actually spent 15 years in prison.
Dahl's father had his own bakery, NatureBake, in the 1980s, specializing in handmade organic and sprouted grain loaves. Dahl says he wasn't interested in the family business in his teens. He dropped out of high school, started taking drugs, and turned to a life of petty crime, according to the Deseret News. He spent the next 15 years serving out sentences for various offenses, and worked at the family bakery between stints.
In the early 2000's, Dahl rejoined his brother Glenn at the bakery for good. He developed a cornmeal-encrusted bread that he took to Portland-area farmers markets and named "Dave's Killer Bread." Here's the full story of why he went to jail, and how his company is giving back.

    • Soooo good. It costs about $5 a loaf here but it tastes SO much better than the other kinds at the grocery. It elevates toast to a higher level. Some things are just worth that little extra money. I get mine at Walmart.

  • I buy the 70 calorie, 21 grain Dave’s. Two slices are about the same carbs as a slice of other bread. Probably because it’s small, a slice is about the size of a slice of cheese. But it seems pretty substantial as a sandwich and if I can keep my lunch to about 26 grams of carb that’s good. I like the bread and it’s really the only kind I eat

  • Industrial Incarceration Complex!?!? Are you suggesting that young people are systematically taught to break laws so that they can be jailed for the main purpose of keeping law enforcement workers & related businesses employed at good wages? Are you also suggesting that extra laws are made just to make it possible to jail even more people to feed the system & supply certain businesses with low wage workers that recently got out of jail!? Well, it actually DOES seem that Hollywood teaches the romantic behaviors that lead to fatherless homes that produce 90+% of law-breakers & violent people. And the government schools (public schools) also fuel the broken home epidemic with their curriculum & encouraged social atmosphere (5th grade teacher of our daughter's friend on the first day of school a few years ago: "Sooo, who's going with who this year!?" Mainstream news media has their supportive role in encouraging divorce & promiscuity & lawbreaking. Disgusting to see them celebrate violent riots with fire in the background and say they are "mostly peaceful protests" and lie about police too which causes more law breaking and murder. You never hear CNN, MSNBC, ABC, New York Times, Washington Post etc go on and on and on about the #1 & #2 & #3 threats to the lives of children living in the city, no obsession over the root causes & no pleading with the public and government to fix it. Just useless projection. And you're doing it too. Your choice of wording is very suspicious. Children raised in actually happy homes of original law-abiding parents just don't usually ever end up breaking laws enough to get arrested. But can we legally stop Hollywood etc from boldly encouraging the behaviors that result in poorly raised children? Probably not. And government schools must be separate from religion. In atheism belief... theft, violence, rape & murder are not wrong, just different things animals do. There are no criminals in the world of atheism. Only religion labels certain behaviors as crime worthy of becoming a resident of the Industrial Incarceration Complex in need of rehabilitation to cooperative & peaceful behaviors. Good thing getting into Heaven is a free gift. Thank you Jesus! That's the same Jesus that Hollywood hates to the core, bcz He cuts into their profits, bcz they don't feel like making entertainment that encourages lifelong hetero marriage. The cultural rejection of the 2 biological parent home is why there are so many criminals & addicts & homeless & suicidal people, and lazy. The trick is to encourage happy homes and single life (no dating etc) in service to the community, and not making an overwhelming number of children. Really happy lifelong couples tend to have more than 3 kids. I do not think teaching youth abortion or to be LGBTetc or teaching divorce are good solutions to preventing excessive population growth. I do see crime encouraged by state & national leaders though, which reduces population by many thousands each year bcz of murder or being stuck in jail. It does kind of seem like the people in power and entertainment influence are actually encouraging dysfunctional homes & criminal behaviors. Of course these leaders never have to live in the difficult areas of the country they help create. They're permanently wealthy & can be safer than most people. Where is their motivation to encourage youth to avoid the choices that lead to trouble in their life & their children's? Happy sober law-abiding people do not well tolerate low wages. With a high standards society, there couldn't be so many very wealthy people, but almost entirely middle class. Hmmm... you should make more videos about the scheme to cause poverty and incarceration in the USA. I think you're onto something. I'm sorry for accusing your wording of being suspicious. Do a video on the 1994 Crime Bill that caused a much higher Incarceration rate all of a sudden and still plagues children today with fatherlessness & poor education bcz their mom/grandparent can't afford to send them to a good private school or can't homeschool.
