What makes for a more perfect summer day than grilling some steaks by the pool?
That is, unless the steaks come off the grill and turn out pretty mediocre. That's never fun. But there is some good news. For every big mistake people make when they grill steaks, there's a fix that can up the quality factor substantially.
Through every step of the process - choosing a cut to cook, seasoning, setting the grill temperature, and cooking - there are a number of things to keep in mind. It's not as simple as it might seem to throw some meat over some fire. Get it right, though, and you'll have a restaurant-quality meal. Here's what the experts say about avoiding those big mistakes.

  • I disagree I think moving the steak around a bit ensures more even cooking because all grills have hot spots.

  • People who get a bad taste from lighter fluid are generally impatient and don't do it right. A chimney starter works, but it's slow, wastes charcoal and doesn't do anything to help flavor. Also, grill marks do nothing at all for flavor......it's just for looks.

  • I’m sorry, but putting meat to rest doesn’t hold in heat like y’all think it does; actually letting the meat rest properly will raise the internal temp by up to 10 degrees, by something called “ carryover cooking “. See the juices are retreating back into the meat, as they should, right? And those juices, which have been at, or near the surface are hot as a result; so as a result as they go back to the interior, the interior temp is raised, hence the reason you pull your steak early, not when it’s at the doneness you want

      PowerSuitNinjaPowerSuitNinja11 օր առաջ
    • It actually doesn't matter that much in the long run, just as long as you have a hot enough fire to create a decent crust. This very principle is what the cold grate technique is based on.
